The naming ceremony took place on 18 February, which also happened to be the ninth anniversary of COSCO SHIPPING’s restructuring.

Zhu Bixin, President of COSCO SHIPPING; Sun Yunfei, Executive Vice President and CFO of COSCO SHIPPING; Pan Guoqiang, Deputy Secretary of the Yangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor; and officials from COSCO SHIPPING Holdings and COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry, attended the ceremony.

Additionally, numerous guests from partner and client companies such as China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC), China Classification Society, American Bureau of Shipping, and Jiangsu University of Science and Technology also attended.

COSCO SHIPPING Holdings’ first methanol dual-fuel containership was built by COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry in Yangzhou.

This vessel’s 366-metre length, 51-metre moulded beam, and maximum loading capacity of 16,136 TEUs mark major developments in technical innovation, green technology, and low-carbon digital intelligence.

It aims to lend strong assistance to China’s maritime industry’s green development. COSCO’s M.V. COSCO SHIPPING YANGPU will travel from the Far East to the West Coast of America in “pure methanol mode” on the transpacific route of COSCO SHIPPING Line.

This capacity opens up new opportunities for the green optimisation of global shipping routes.

Recently, COSCO SHIPPING Lines celebrated the inaugural voyage of its WSA5 service to Colombia’s Port of Buenaventura with a series of festivities held at the SPRB terminal in Buenaventura.
